    A no-risk proposition

    Learn More

Gamble Simmons can reduce your sales and use taxes.

For 40 years, Fortune 500, Houston 100, and other companies nationwide have relied on Gamble Simmons to reduce their tax liabilities.

We work strictly on contingency, with no risk to you.

As tax-recovery specialists, we identify refund opportunities, offer tax advice, and conduct credit reviews. Our fee is a percentage of your refund or reduced assessment—but only for the audit period we review. If we produce no savings, you owe us nothing.

This is not a one-shot deal: In addition to identifying tax credits, we analyze your tax data and correct tax-related errors in your systems. These fixes usually produce future savings that far exceed the initial refunds for which we are paid.

Our clients tell us that our documentation, work product, and results are second to none. They also confirm that we work at their convenience, unobtrusively, requiring very little time from their staff.

Who will conduct your tax review?

Gamble Simmons is fully staffed, but our founder Bill Gamble and our tax director Damon Maxey conduct all tax reviews themselves. We know—from long experience—what information to collect, as well as how to present a variety of issues to tax authorities—and resolve them successfully.

Bill Gamble founded Gamble Simmons with his late partner John Simmons in 1978. Since then, he has worked in multiple industries and with many Fortune 500 companies to minimize sales-tax liabilities and maximize refunds through audit and credit reviews.

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Bill worked for the State of Texas as a sales-tax auditor. Working under the Texas Comptroller, Bill audited the sales taxes of small to very large businesses encountering complex tax issues. He advanced from auditor to training supervisor to team leader to section supervisor before leaving to found Gamble Simmons.

Damon Maxey, tax director, was tax manager for the City of Thornton, Colo., before joining Gamble Simmons. He specializes in oil and gas taxation.

After serving in the U.S. Marines and earning his undergraduate degree in accounting, Damon earned his master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He worked as a tax consultant with Deloitte, a revenue agent with the IRS, and an excise-tax supervisor with Chevron.
